Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 05.06.17

What a busy half term we have.  It’s hard to believe we only have half a term of year 4 left!  The children have all worked incredibly hard and we have been very proud of them.  We hope you all have a restful half term!

Here’s what’s coming up after half term:-

Numeracy: Children will be revisiting written methods of multiplication and doing some assessments to show their learning and understanding in numeracy.

Literacy: Children will be exploring a range of adverts and leaflets about places in Guernsey. They will be learning a persuasive text. Also, they will be doing some reading assessments during Guided Reading sessions.

Science: We will be starting a new topic about habitats.

Lihou:  There will be an important information evening on Monday 5th of June 5pm for both parents and children. Please see separate flyer. If you are unable to attend then please let the class teacher know.

We will not be setting any formal homework over the holiday, however children should be continuing with their reading challenge, working on rainbow targets and using Mathletics.

Many Thanks

Another great week with some super story writing!  Well done to Miss Dyke’s class for doing a super class assembly on Friday, they all worked very hard and Miss Dyke was very proud of them all.  Here’s what’s coming next week:-
Numeracy: We will be looking at time and 3d nets.
Literacy: Children will be planning and writing their own stories with issues,  dilemmas and problems showing what they have learnt about this type of story.

Literacy: We will be learning ‘The Canal’ short story to fit in with our theme of stories with issues, problems and dilemmas.

Mrs Judd:  Mrs Judd will be having her knee operation next week and we are expecting her to be off for around 4-6 weeks.  We all wish her the best of luck and a speedy recovery! We will miss her!
