Weekly Update Week beginning 13th March

Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 13.03.17

Here’s what’s coming this  week:-

Numeracy: Angles and averages. We never thought we would say this but, the children are allowed to bring their Pokemon cards in for maths lessons next week! They will have to be responsible for them but we can put them in our desk drawers if the children feel happier with this. Please make sure they are in a clearly labelled container-a plastic bag will do!

Literacy: Please remind children to bring in their homework to support their newspaper writing.  The children will be finishing their planning and beginning to type their newspaper report.

Science: Feel the Force Day!  Wednesday 22nd March, we will be having a day of Science activities.  Children are able to wear their PE kit and bring in a bike, scooter, skateboard, heelies/roller skates (with pads) and must have a helmet.  Any parents that are able to help between 9 and 12 would be most welcome!  Please let your class teacher know.

Year 4 Reading Challenge:  The children are doing really well with their reading and should be continuing with their reading challengeby trying to read for at least 10 minutes every day.  This needs to be filled in on their charts.  The reading clubs are still running on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8.30 too.  The children are enjoying collecting cakes, sweets and superpowers.  Keep up the hard work!

Red Nose Day:

The children are invited to enter into a talent show.  The auditions will be held on Monday 20th March.  Children can enter individually or  in groups from their classes for a donation.  Acts should be about a minute long.  The final acts will be chosen and will perform in assembly on Friday 24th March.  Red Noses will be on sale in classes for £1 each next week from your School Council rep.  There will be a ‘red’ mufti day on Red Nose Day too!

Mrs Judd:  Please be advised that Mrs Judd will  be having a knee operation and therefore will be off from the week beginning 20th March until at least the end of term.  Mrs Dowding will be teaching Mrs Judd’s lessons.  We wish Mrs Judd all the best for a full and speedy recovery!

Thanks, as always, for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend!
