Another fantastic week, the children are settling into year 4 so well and we are proud of their hard work. Mrs Dowding’s class had a wonderful time sailing this morning.

For your information here’s what’s happening this week:-

History: We have done a ‘brief history’ of the Tudor Monarchs and will now be choosing a monarch to research about in more depth. We will be teaching the children some research skills and then they can go home and complete this over the next few weeks. Please click on the link for the homework sheet. The children will have 2 weeks to complete it and it can be presented in any way they choose.  There will be no other written homework for the next two weeks to allow time for this project.

Numeracy: We will be introducing the new Rainbow Target focus – Number Bonds. the children will be coming home and sharing their targets with you this week.

Literacy: We will be continuing the unit on Imaginary Worlds with a particular emphasis on descriptions of settings.  The children will be writing their own description towards the end of the week.

Homework: A reminder that children should still be reading at least 3x a week at home, practising spellings, times tables, Rainbow Targets and using Mathletics/ Skoolbo (where possible). Please let us know if you need any support with this, We do run a homework club on Monday lunchtimes to offer help and internet access. Thank you for all your support with this – it does make a difference!  

Reading Records: Class teachers will be checking these on a weekly basis and house points will be awarded for reading at home (to be signed by an adult).  Mrs Dowding:  Tuesday, Mrs Karia:  Friday, Miss Dyke: Friday.

Parental help: Many thanks to those who have offered their help to us already in school and with trips.  If you find that you have time at 2.30 to help out with reading or other activities, please let us know.
