Literacy Homework due in 14.06.17

In class the children have been focusing on persuasive texts, and getting to know the text ‘Oatlands Village.’ For homework, please can children ‘unpick’ the text by identifying and underlining the VCOP.

  1. Underline in purple (with a ruler) any great VOCABULARY you find – adjectives, adverbs, similes, powerful verbs.
  2. Underline in red (with a ruler) any CONNECTIVES you can find.
  3. Underline in orange (with a ruler) any OPENERS you can find.
  4. Underline in green (with a ruler) examples of each type of PUNCTUATION used.
  5. Also write down anything from your underlining or from what you have read that you might like to magpie.

Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 12.06.17

 

What a great start we’ve had to our last half term! Thank you to those who attended the Lihou information evening on Monday, we appreciate your time.

Here’s what’s coming up this week:-

Sponsored Swim: Tuesday 27th (13.00 – 14.00) for Mrs Dowding’s class,  Friday 30th (9:00-10:00)for Mrs Karia’s class and Tuesday 4th for Miss Dyke’s class (13:00-14:00). If you are planning to come and watch your child swim please give us an indication of time so we make sure you don’t miss them and any offers of help to count lengths are gratefully received-just drop us a line!

Lihou trip:  A reminder that medical forms for Lihou should be handed in ASAP (including parent helpers).  Please note that extra copies of forms are available on the blog.  Mrs Dowding’s class – please note that you DO NOT need to bring in bags for Lihou on the morning of Wednesday  28th June, they can be brought down to the drop off at Lihou in the afternoon.

EPIC Week: The children should have brought home their letters stating which activity they will be doing throughout the week. Please take note of the instructions provided.

Numeracy: We will be focusing on problem solving involving sequences and patterns and looking at data handling.

Literacy: We will be substituting our own ideas on a persuasive text about Oatlands Village.  

Geography: We have started our new topic ‘Habitats’. Children will be exploring the habitats within the school grounds and designing their own species that could be found there.

Sports Day:Wednesday 21st June. We are currently making the arrangements for this exciting event. Please feel free to join us in the afternoon!
