Weekly note 14.5.18

We hope you enjoyed your extra holiday this week!  We have had a great couple of days at school too.

Here’s what’s coming next week:-

Lihou:  Please could you ensure payments and forms for Lihou are made ASAP.

We will be holding a meeting for parents/carers and children who are coming to Lihou on Monday 4th June at 5.30pm.  Please come along as we will be handing out medical forms and going over the itinerary and kit list.

Numeracy: We will be looking at proportion and then moving onto percentages.

Literacy: We will be writing our own persuasive letter.  The children should have chosen a company that they would like to persuade e.g. a toothpaste company.  They then need to think of what they would like to persuade them to do e.g. not use cardboard boxes to hold the tubes in or not use plastic tubes.  Then they need to think of 3 reasons why this would be better for the environment. If they would like to do any extra research for this they can! Please ensure that the homework is completed by Monday.

1) A sensible and safe pair of walking shoes/trainers with a good grip on the sole (no flip flops or open toed shoes please due to health and safety!)

Must have a sun hat and sun cream applied before school (bring in bag to reapply)

Thick socks that will protect the feet

A waterproof top (in their bag)

Important update!

Unfortunately, Year 4 are unable to get buses for the tip trip this Friday so we are currently looking at other possible dates.  However, we have decided to hold our ‘Trashion Show’ on Friday instead.  Please could children bring in any items that could be reused for their team’s design.  Here are some examples to inspire you…

Tip trip!

As part of our topic on the environment, Year 4 are hoping to visit the Fontaine Recycling Depot and Waste Segregation Site, Longue Hougue Reclamation Site, Mont Cuet Landfill Site and Chouet on Friday 13th April. We aim to raise the children’s awareness of what happens to our waste and get them to consider issues to do with landfill sites. We hope to depart school at 9:15am and return to school by 3pm.  We are just waiting for confirmation of buses for the trip – further details to follow on Wednesday (please check the blog).  It is possible we will have to change the date if the buses are unavailable.

We will need at least 5 helpers for our trip – please can you let your child’s class teacher know asap if you can assist.

Many thanks
