Weekly note 22.1.18

Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 22.01.18

Another great week of learning!  The children have enjoyed lots of different measuring tasks this week and have been working really hard on their substituted stories.

Here’s what’s coming next week:-

Numeracy: Next week will be continuing to work with measures. This will be an outdoor practical experience as the children complete the “Year 4 Marvellous Measures Challenge!”

Please could the children bring their wellies in next week as most of our numeracy lessons will be outside in the mud!

If the children would like to do some preparation for the measures challenges then they could practice some conversions-follow the links!

Postage rates-find the weight and length of a parcel and calculate the cost of posting

Coconut ordering Select mass, length or capacity and then choose your challenge

Match the times! Practice telling the time-analogue and digital.

Read the scales

The fun family measures homework also supports this.

Literacy: We will be writing our own imaginary world stories and will be looking at a new spelling focus on plurals.  Can you find any plurals in your reading at home?

Science: We will be finishing off our electricity topic – researching electricity questions and presenting our findings.

Feel the Force Day: A date for your diaries…Friday 2nd February. We are planning a very exciting day of workshops and activities that investigate ‘force.’ You are invited to join us at any time in the day to share in your child’s learning. Feel free to spend as much or as little time as you want-no scientific knowledge required!

Art: The children will be drawing, painting and collaging spring flowers next week. Any materials that could be used for collaging would be gratefully received.

Book Week: The school will be celebrating book week during the week beginning 5th February.  This will launch Readathon and on Friday 9th February children are invited to come to school dressed up as a character from their a book.  For more information, please see http://stmartinsprimaryschool.edublogs.org/2018/01/18/book-week-readathon-dress-up-day-book-sale/

Have a lovely weekend and thank you for your continued support.
