Weekly note 4.12.17

Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 4/12/17

The children enjoyed a fantastic Tudor day on Monday!  We hope you enjoyed the entertainment and refreshments in the afternoon.  Many thanks to all our helpers for the day, without you it wouldn’t have been possible.  Here’s what’s coming this week:-

Numeracy: We will continuing to work on times tables and then moving onto data handling.

Literacy: We will be writing our own historical setting descriptions.

DT: Welcome to year 4 ‘The Apprentice!’  Please see our homework link for information.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aj_ED27Qainp3SXidEDooGGPz4nUAjyZQXPjQD_obTI/edit?usp=sharing

If you have any unwanted teddy bears, please bring them in as we will be deconstructing toys and looking at how they are put together and made.  This is an important part of the DT process.  It would be an idea to pre-warn the children that this will be happening!

We are very keen to have any willing volunteers to help thread needles and untangle sewing over the next few weeks! Please let the class teacher know if you can help at all.  We are planning to do these lessons on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.

Random act of kindness class advent calendar:  Each day a child in the class opens an advent envelope which contains a random act of kindness for all the children to have a go at.  These will continue over the weekend.  We hope you enjoy the activities suggested.  This weekend the children have been asked to:

Write a Christmas card to an elderly person (you could bring them in and we could send them to Le Platon) and donate a toy to the Christmas Fayre.

PTA Christmas fayre:  This will take place on Thursday 7th December, children can be collected from their classrooms at 2.15 to have a look around.  They must be accompanied by an adult.  Why not bring in donations, bake a cake or bring something for the bottle stall!

Enjoy your weekend!

Many thanks.
