Digital Leaders

We are introducing Digital Leaders across the school. One Digital Leader will be chosen per class and they will have various responsibilities including being a technical expert within their class and helping their peers to use digital technology. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the iPads are charged and looked after carefully. The Digital Leaders will be required to attend regular lunchtime meetings with all the other Digital Leaders where they will learn their responsibilities and be taught how to use apps more confidently as well as learning to use new apps which they can then show their class.

Interested children will be asked to apply for the role by filling in an application form. This process will start to give them awareness of the real world of work and how you have to apply and interview for a job.

The children have had an assembly to introduce them to what being a digital leader will involve and have brought home an application form if they are interested. Please talk about the role with your child and help them to fill in the application form if they would like to apply. It needs to be returned to your child’s teacher by Friday 13th October.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Karia.

Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 9.10.17

A fantastic week with a very informative assembly about recycling on Monday-well done for those who bought their tins in! We are really pleased with the hard work and creative ideas that has gone into the Tudor Monarch posters at school-amazing!  Here’s what’s happening in the coming week:-

History: Our trip to Castle Cornet is on Monday 9th of October. Buses will leave school at 9:15 and return for lunch. School uniform can be worn but please remember a warm waterproof coat.  Click on the link for more details.

Numeracy: We will be continuing with our written method of subtraction and then solving 1 and 2 step word problems.

Literacy: We will be beginning our unit on poetry. Bring in any poetry books you have at home to share with us if you want!

Homework project: a reminder that you are invited to add to your team’s posters on the monarchs. The more creative the better!

Harvest Festival:  We will be watching the Year 3 Harvest Festival Performance on Tuesday at school. Children can bring in a Harvest box filled with non-perishable items that will then be distributed by the GVS to the elderly in our community. Click on the link to see more.

They may also wish to write a letter to the recipient of their box using the school address as they may then get a reply.

Halloween Disco: The PTA work really hard throughout the year to put on events for the children to enjoy however these can only go ahead with the support of parents to help. The Halloween disco is coming up soon (for details please see the poster below) and the PTA need some more parents to volunteer to help for the hour while their children are at the disco. Help is needed to man the glow products stall and the snack stall as well as general crowd control. No experience is necessary! If you don’t have the time to join the PTA, please consider helping out for an hour at one of their events. If you are able to help with the Year 3 and 4 disco, please could you either contact the PTA directly at StMartinsPTA.gg@gmail.com or let your child’s class teacher know.

The children will be saying their team goodbyes this week.

Phew! What a busy week!

Have a good weekend!
