Weekly update 3/10/16

We’ve had another super week in year 4!  We have been really pleased with the way the children have begun to learn their Rainbow targets.  Year 4 had a very exciting and informative visit from the ‘Tudor Apothecary’ where the children listened attentively!  Mrs Karia’s class had a wonderful first sailing session, they are looking forward to next week.

For your information here’s what’s happening this week:-

History: A reminder that the Monarch homework is due in on Tuesday 4th October – we have seen some amazing work already. Our trip to Castle Cornet is on Monday 3rd of October. Buses will leave school at 9:15 and return for lunch. School uniform can be worn but please remember a waterproof coat and let your class teacher know if you are able to help. We will also be following up our visit from the Apothecary, where the children will be deciding how to present what they found out.

Numeracy: We will be carrying on with written subtraction. Please check out the blog on Monday as games and links will be posted to help out with Rainbow Targets.

Literacy: The children will begin to think about writing their own substituted character description based on the ‘Willy Wonka’ description.

School Council: A reminder that children who would like to stand for School Council elections should prepare a short presentation or poster to share with their class.  These presentations will take place the following week (week beginning 10.10.16)

Sailing and Swimming: A reminder that Mrs Karia’s class will be sailing next Friday (7.10.16). The same arrangements as the previous week applies.

Mrs Karia’s will swim on Tuesday (04.10.16) Miss Dyke’s Class will be swimming on Friday (07.09.16).

Harvest Festival:  We will be going to the church on Thursday 6th October at 1.30pm. Children can bring in a Harvest box filled with non-perishable items that will then be distributed by the GVS to the elderly in our community.  They may also wish to write a letter to the recipient of their box using the school address as they may then get a reply.  Any parents able to walk to and from the church with us please let us know.

A pair of boys black and red trainers have been lost in the year 4 cloakroom.  Please can you check bags and PE kits for them.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Year 4 Weekly Update for week beginning 26.09.16

We’ve had another fantastic week in year 4 and have seen some very impressive Monarch homework already!

For your information here’s what’s happening this week:-

History: A reminder that the Monarch homework is due in on Tuesday 4th October. Our trip to Castle Cornet is on Monday 3rd of October. Buses will leave school at 9:15 and return for lunch. Please remember a waterproof coat and let your class teacher know if you are able to help. Next Thursday, we have a visit from a Tudor Apothecary who will be explaining all about Tudor remedies.

Numeracy: We will be looking at written addition and subtraction. Children will be bringing Rainbow Target letters home today, please practise these number bond targets daily. A times table / division target will be sent home next week.

Literacy: We will be beginning to learn a text of a character description this week using actions.

School Council: It’s that time of year again!  Our classes have the opportunity on 14th October to elect a new representative.  If your child would like to stand for election then they will need to prepare a short presentation on why they would make a good representative for their class (e.g. poster, power point etc).  These will be presented the week before elections take place.

Sailing and Swimming: Mrs Karia’s class will be sailing next Friday (30.09.16). You will need to arrange for your child to be dropped off at the Model Yacht Pond, by the sailing club, anytime from 8:30 for a 9am start. Please report to Miss Dyke as she will be taking Mrs Karia’s class to the Model Yacht Pond. Please let Mrs Karia know if you are able to help. Children will need to wear clothes that can get wet, a pair of shoes that don’t come off (i.e. no flip flops) that can also get wet, jumpers and coat if it is cold and wet. A plastic bag is a good idea to put the clothes in afterwards. Please don’t forget to pack school uniform!

Mrs Karia’s will now swim for the next two weeks on Tuesday (27.09.16 and 04.10.16) Miss Dyke’s Class will be swimming on Friday (30.09.16 and 07.09.16).

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
